how to do a clean install on VP12?

vicmilt wrote on 4/16/2014, 11:45 AM
No big issues - I still LOVE all things Vegas - am still cutting major projects with it.

But I've got a few minor bugs in it - basically where it defaults to.
(Like on RENDER TO A NEW TRACK - it doesn't revert to where I just was, etc. - minor stuff)
So I'm considering a new "clean install" to get it back to factory specs.

My copy is (of course) one of a million upgrades (I started with Vegas 3).
Am running Win 7.

Nothing much else to tell.
Directions please?
And what will I lose?

Have tried resetting it? You will loose your toolbar settings but rest should all be there, keyboard layouts can be restored and so can windows layouts. Not as radical as reinstalling it.

And how do you reset it, please?

Doesn't matter. Each version of Vegas is a separate install.

This is for W7, but previous Win versions pretty much the same.

You could also use a third-party uninstall utility like Softpedia's Revo Uninstaller, which in the advanced mode will delete ALL the relevant registry entries and other garbage left behind by a 'normal' uninstall procedure.
Highly recommended and free.

I have some registry entries for a very old sound card that remain after doing a "normal" uninstall. Do you think this Revo Uninstaller will remove those registry entries or does it work only on software entries?

Configuration - Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Deleted card - Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 Value

Over the years iterations of universal uninstallers with different Win OS have proven to get more problematic and less appealing to most uses and users. They have a place perhaps but are not guaranteed to do anything, and indeed pose a good risk of spoiling your current config.

Still lost -
started Vegas 12 with SHIFT/CTRL and opened a current project.

Went to RENDER TO A NEW TRACK and selected my favorite few render Codecs.
Click show Favorites only - it worked - three codecs came up - hooray.
Closed the window.
Opened it again and once again my machine selects an old Architect render codec.. I haven't printed a DVD in nearly a year.

What am I doing wrong?

Was there a dialog box before Vegas actually opened?
