How to do Matrix text effect

SpaceGhost79 wrote on 1/16/2004, 11:28 PM
Does anyone know how to do the effect in The Matrix with like all the letters and numbers coming straight down from the top of the screen to the bottom in columns on a black background?

I have the style of font with all the weird characters, but I'm not sure exactly how to make several columns of them and have them all continously scrolling down from the top of the screen. Should I make the text in Vegas or perhaps in Photoshop and use an alpha channel behind it? I'm sure there's different ways of doing it, but any helps or suggestions would be appreciated.

Chek out the Sundance site, I'm sure I saw how to do it over there.
Also Particle Illusion has it or something like it, even in Version 2

If you have (or have access to) After Effects, you could try the Text Anarchy plugin from Digital Anarchy. This plug does EXACTLY what you're looking for. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

I use Particle Illusion 2, and yes, it has settings to do exactly what you want.

I have never seen The Matrix, but whenever anyone see the text effect, they say, "Oh, The Matrix, huh?"

Particle Illusion's implementation is very fast, easy, and looks great.

It's a really cool and fun program. Very easy to use too...
