How to emulate/preview DVD NTSC MPEG files

I make SVCD MPeg files and can preview the files (thru WinDVD using VCDEasy and Daemon-Tools to create and load bin/cue files for the video file) before burning the SVCD (thereby saving $). Does anybody know how to do this with DVD NTSC MPEG video files (i.e., preview them thru WinDVD before burning an actual DVD-R)? How do you make cue/bin files from a DVD NTSC MPEG file (VCDEasy doesn't support this.)?

I haven't done much with VCD/SVCD, but I've just used whatever VCD software to preview it while still on the hard drive. I'm unfamiliar with your work flow chain though -- would CD emulator software help? Like moving your files to a virtual CD?

RE: DVDs, Power DVD 4 has the capability to open DVDs on the hard drive. You might be able to get a few of the freeware viewers to work as well - you could definitely check it out that way using the vlan client, but I'm not sure it would show all the menu stuff the way power dvd does. If you can find it, Spruce-up used to include a memory resident version of windvd that would work on DVDs on the hard drive.

Yeah, basically I want to emulate the DVD image file (view it/use it) BEFORE I burn anything to a DVD-R. For example, when I make an SVCD, I do this:
1. Edit in VV3
2. Render as SVCD template (MPEG2 file)
3. Use VCD Easy to create a .bin and .cue file from the .mpg file
4. "Mount" this on to a virtual CD-ROM drive using Daemon-tools.
5. Open up WinDVD and view the SVCD video (it's a virtual image of the SVCD).

Now, how do I do this with a .mpg file rendered under the DVD NTSC MPEG2 template? Maybe I can't do it. I just want to know if it's possible and if so, what software to use, so I don't burn coasters.

I do this all the time. I use both DVDIt! LE and DVD Complete. Both have the option of creating a "disc folder" instead of burning to disk. I do this, and then using PowerDVD, I can point it at the disc folder and it will play just like it was reading from a DVD.

Great! This is what I needed to know. Any chance that ULEAD Movie Factory has this same option?
