How to extend last frame of an event

I have an event on the timeline, its a portion of a larger clip. I want to make the last frame of the clip freeze on screen for a few seconds. I know that if this event was the end of a clip, I could simply extend the right edge and Vegas would automatically create this effect. But how do I do this when this event is in the middle of a clip. When I extend this event, Vegas grabs additional information from the clip.

Insert a velocity envelope. Place a point on the envelope at the frame you want to become a still and add another point after that. Drag the second point directly under the first and set to 0%. You may then extend the clip as far as you wish and that last frame will remain a still.

. . then you can adjust the final few seconds with a simple fade out. Neat finish to your creativity too!

Another approach. Split the event at the frame you want to hold. With the cursor on this frame go to preview window and "Save Snapshot to File". Import the still image - make it as long as you like. I believe this will work.
Good luck,

If you are going to all the trouble to split, why not just add a velocity envelope on the second clip set to 0%? Much quicker and doesn't create extra files. I still think the above velocity envelope solution is the best.
