How to get chapter markers written to .sfl file?

If I have markers in a VP12 project and I manually render, I can select "Save project markers in rendered media file" under "Metadata Options" in the "Render As" dialog.

What this appears to do is add marker information to the corresponding .sfl file that gets created. If I separately render audio and video using DVDA-compliant templates, I can just load the resultant .mpg in DVDA, and it automatically finds the corresponding .ac3 file and loads the chapter markers from the .sfl file -- great!

However ... I'm trying to adapt (read: hack) the "Batch Render" script to (a) not append the template names to the rendered files -- easy -- and (b) do the equivalent of manually checking the "Save project markers in rendered media file" box. I need some help with (b) above.

It would appear that invoking the renderer leads to the creation of the .sfl file regardless .... however, nowhere can I see any option to influence whether the renderer includes markers in the rendered file (or corresponding .sfl).

I edit multiple projects during the week (with some very specific navigation marker requirements) and ultimately I'd like to be able to create a script to run each Friday afternoon, select the projects and have them render to DVDA-friendly files over the weekend.

Any help is appreciated!

Following further research, it would appear that I am in danger of attempting to reinvent the wheel: DVDPrep, however I can only get this to work if I run VP12 as Administrator, which is just not a viable option any more on an internet-connected computer.

Thanks for pointing that out ... I also intend to trial Ultimate S, which seems to have similar capabilities. Another user has also unearthed a script from 2004 which would seem to contain some of the functionality I'd need, but it's hard to justify the effort when there are already such powerful 3rd-party solutions out there ....
