How to get "free" Cineform 2.8 to work in V9?

Followed the Forum Admin suggestion below to copy CFHD.DLL from Pro 8 to Pro 9 and still no luck in being able to view old Cineform AVIs in Pro 9. Also no option to render to intermediate using the Cineform codec. Any suggestions...

"In the meantime, if you have Vegas Pro 8, please close Vegas Pro 9 and then copy (not move) the file CFHD.DLL from the Vegas Pro 8 application directory (typically "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0") to the Vegas Pro 9 application directory (typically "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0").

This will restore the same CineForm capabilities and performance that Vegas Pro 8 had.

Please read all the subsequent posts (after the FA's suggestion) in that thread again. If you have any payware version of Cineform software installed, if you follow that suggestion, will cause you more problems than it's worth. David Newman from Cineform responded in that thread also and his response explains under what limited circumstances you would want to follow that suggestion.

Same here, Vista 32. Seems to work OK without the copy in XP.

I dont have any other Cineform products installed, just the free version. Copied it over and still not working.

LJA, dont quite understand.. do you have the free Cineform codec working in Pro 9?

Yes, but only on my XP machine. Preview is very slow at any size other than FULL, but it works. I did not have to do anything other than install V9. Haven't tried to render to CF intermediate yet.

On Vista 32, even after manually copying the dll over to V9, the CF clips show up as "offline".
