How to I re-create a DV project as HDV

I have a recently completed Vegas 8 DV project using DV avi files captured through the “down-convert” function of my Sony A1E HDV camcorder.

I have now purchased a more powerful computer for HDV editing, and would like to re-create this as an HDV project. If I make the DV avi files temporarily unavailable to the project by moving them to another folder, is it possible to use the facility to re-capture off-line files to re-create them as HDV (m2t) files? If not, is there any other way of doing this please?

Many thanks in anticipation.

You might be able to if you name the files the same way as your DV files However , M2t scene detection is not as percise as the DV scene detection so your files lengths might differ. That can cause some real issue when using "replace" media.
If it were one long DV avi and you recaptured using m2t as one long file it may be pretty close..

not having offline recapture right in front of me, I can't recall if you can change the extension of the file you're trying to recapture - replace media, like epirb suggested may work but ideally if you've already captured the .m2t files beforehand. Also, yes, the scene detection will not be spot on between the DV / HDV captures - my guess is you'll have to just replace and resync the new clips up (won't be more than a couple of frames in either direction though I'd imagine..)

let us know what works. I actually haven't heard of anyone doing this yet.
