CDA does not include pre-gaps in extracted tracks that I've noticed.

Maybe your source discs have the 'pregaps' included in the actual tracks as opposed to real PQ pre-gaps ?

Exact Audio Copy allows you to detect the pregaps and then decide whether to append them to the end of the track before extracting.

CDA, I believe, appends them to the previous track by default and doesn't give you a choice. There is no reference to pregap handling by CDA during extraction in the manual. I was hoping there was a magical setting somewhere.

OK, just tried this on my machine at work, and indeed the pre-gap of track 2 is being appended as part of the 'track event' of track 1 at it's end.

This is whatever tick-box settings in the extract dialogue are set to, and whether or not the tracks are extracted as track, or 'entire disc'.

However I have been using CDA for years and have never noticed this before. Could it be because of the drive firmware ? Or could it be due to this being a DVD/RW as opposed to CD ? Or could it be just the latest release of CDA ?

Will try again at home on my (usual) Plextor CD/RW and report back.

In the meantime, I suggest you submit it as a bug in the appropriate way:

I believe EAC is the only software which allows you to identify pregaps during extraction and decide whether to append them or discard them.

In defense of CD Architect, I'm fairly certain that they handle pregaps like every other piece of software out there, which is to append the pregap to the end of the previous track.

I was just hoping that CD Architect, being an 'upscale' burner and ripper, would allow you to do the same.

I really like CD Architect's UI and features (great for detail work) but can't see justifying the purchase. Unfortunately, EAC is still the best ripper on the planet (and it's free), and Imgburn is still the best burner on the planet (and it's free).

BUT, it does come with Sound Forge doesn't it? Hmmm...

Thank you Geoff for taking the time.

If it is defined in the PQ list, then it should be extracted as such. I'm sure that this used to function correctly in CDA, so it''s likely a bug that has crept in. Did you report it "properly" ?

I own Vegas Pro, DVDA, the noise plugins, and some of the studio series. However, I'm only working with CD Architect trial right now and haven't purchased the product yet.

Um, why not get Sound Forge, which includes CDA, and you'll have full editing capability too ?
