OK---finally figured out that the problem was the fact that I DO have the original old collection-file. It doesn't work in Vegas7. But I downloaded a couple of more recent sets from VASST, and they work OK. Leaving this message here rather than deleting it, in case anyone else blunders into the same kind of confusion I did...

I'm moving all my Vegas stuff to a new computer, and I'm drawing a blank about how to install Presets.
On my old soon-to-be-abandoned computer, my Vegas paraphernalia included a FX/Filter Package of a whole bunch of "JMH" presets that I got from VASST. I still have the file that I originally downloaded from VASST, (JMH presets (full).sfpreset) but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get its bunch of presets installed to make them show up in my Vegas Plug-In Chooser.
Tried Vegas online help, but found no clues there. What little I could find about the Preset Manager talked about Sound Forge instead of Vegas.
Help??
PS: I notice some other recent threads about this, but there don't seem to be answers to the dilemma.
