How to install Vegas 6.0b

Cunhambebe wrote on 7/6/2005, 1:02 PM
I'm about to install Vegas 6.0b but there's a warning screen saying it requires NET Framework 1.1 SP1. Last year a lot of people had some problems to install version 5.0 because of the NET framework. Among many solutions, on euser came up with this one to fix the problem (2 accounts or something like that):

Start->Control Panel->User Accounts. Then select Change an account, pick the ASPNET account and delete it. Done deal. No more security hole, no more logon on screen. Happy, happy joy, joy. ;-)

Now I've got a doubt. Don't know if the warning screen refers to a new NET Framework for Service Pack one or....what. I've just ckecked out and my Control Panel says NET Framework is installed. Help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance ;)

In the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 Microsoft finally fixes the account bug that you are referring to. I recommend you install it.

Thanks...but what about the other version here? Do I have to uninstall it?
Thanks in advance.

No need to uninstall. It’s a service pack. It will install right over the existing version and update it.

I have a new computer that I want to install Vegas to but my intention was to not have that computer connected to the Internet to avoid all the trash that is out there and seems to invaribly invade ones system. Is it possable to download and save the Microsoft.net doohikey - save it to CD rom and get it onto the new computer that way?

Thanks, Garo

Yes, you can get it from Microsoft's site.

So you have installed the NET thing as you've just said [lol]. Good. The installer keeps asking for the internet connection....so hit Ok and see what it happens. If you have the NET Framework installed, the software should skip this step - I guess.

I am running V5 (and already have NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installed) and trying to install the V6 trial. I keep getting the same error as stated above ( the installer asking if I want to connect to download and install net framework). The PC I'm trying to install on is not connected to internet so of course I get a "page cannot be displayed in IE and Vegas installer telling me to restart after installing net framework....any thoughts?
TIA,
Randy

BTW, assuming V7 will be released at NAB at the end of next month do you think I'd get a discount (on V7) if I purchase V6 now?

Randy, are you SURE you have .Net 1.1 SP1 installed? Vegas 5 only required .Net 1.1. Maybe you're missing the "SP1" part? To make sure, you can download from here:

No SP1 after 1.1 so that must be it, thanks very much Edward!!!
