How to lock?

I have edit my 55 minutes film down to 18 minutes.

And now I want to cut some more videoclips.

Everytime I have done so, all other events have come in disorder so that the CD-music-clip no more are in accordance with my videoclips.

I do not understand the manual how to do.

So how can I lock my CD-music-clip to my video-clip so they don’t move when I delete some other videoclip?

Events can be "glued" in place on the timeline by right clicking on the Event then selecting SWITCH and LOCK. This will gray out the event and you won't be able to move prior to unlocking.

In a similar way you can form groups. Right click and create new or remove from. You make multiple selectons by clicking on events while holding down the Ctrl key.

Make sure you have ripple mode turned off.

I realize now that my question was misleading. (So how can I lock my CD-music-clip to my video-clip so they don’t move when I delete some other videoclip?) Forget it.

I followed yor advice "selecting SWITCH and LOCK" and that was bad. There were then chaos in my film.

Because when I cut some videoclip there became a gap, because the clip I had lock didn't move to fill the gap.

But they MUST move to fill the gap but at the same time hold together, the videoclip and the CD-music-clip.

So how shall I explain?

Let say this way then. I have 300 videoclip and also CD-music-clip. 5 of this videoclip have special CD-videoclip and they must follow together exactly. Now I want to delete 3 other videoclip and when I do that I want the 5 special videoclip with the special CD-music-clip to fill the gap and at the same time hold together.

You see I have now for some weeks edit my film, and every day and time when I edit there is disorder, the CD-music-clip go to far to left or right from the videoclip which they must exactly follow.

And now I followed you advice and it was worse, now the clip I locked sometimes were disappearing into other clip, for instance.

It sound like you still have auto ripple on - if you disable this you can delete and replace manually and nothing will move unless you move it.

If my wife was here she could translate into Svenska for you...I am rather bad at it but in making this simple as I can to try and explain -

Under the ripple selection there are options - from what I can gather the best option for you is "all", or in vegas terms - "All tracks, markers and regions" Just ignore the other choices and select that. After that you just make sure that button is turned on.

The other part of this is the tricky part in Vegas. I, and others, have had some problems with this. if you audio and video are not in sync you can group them together. Hoever in my experience this doen't always hold. So if you want to "insert" some video into a track that has the CD audio you may find yourself with problems - as it seems you already have. In this case you might consider turning off the ripple and just go into A/B editing and see if that works better for you.

Another important thing to do that will help if you insert -

1> Find your insert spot. Use the [ or ] to highlight your in point - for me that is the end of the clip, not the start of the next clip.

2> make sure you click on the track you want to insert to - not the clip - the track.

I felel the whole method of syncing, and retaining that sync, could be better managed in VV. For now I just have to look at every edit and switch the ripple on or off depending on what I am doing.

jag hoppas att du lyckas
