Solo the sound track, then Tools, Render to new track, customize, audio, and set it to mono. This will add a new track to your project with the audio from that clip as mono. Then you can delete the original stereo audio track from the project. When you render, the sound will be in both channels.

So I'm assuming that you have a stereo track that has only the left channel correct? Easiest way is to bring it into SF and use a plugin to convert a wave to either mono or stereo. "channel convert" I think its called. When you open it up it gives you a list of mono-stereo, stereo-mono,and a few different variations to that effect. Again I'm assuming that its a stereo wave with no audio in the right channel. Pick stereo to stereo and a setting that utilizes the left channel signal...try at 50% or 100% ,etc and find the end result that suites your needs.

Now if you have just a mono wave then the easiest way would be to highlight the wave in a loop region and render to new track [cntrl+M] and it will take your audio and render to another stereo track [with added effect if desired]. I'm not sure why it doesn't give you an option for mono rendering or stereo...

OR...You could just export into SF [cntrl+E] and use that same plugin [channel converter] and choose mono to stereo 50/100/etc...and you'll be fine. Watch for clipping! Don't forget the template for dv...16bit 48k stereo. Later.

Thanks both of you. I'm worried also that the audio is a bit too low, volume wise. How do I guage this, and normalize or bring it up if necessary? It's not low-low, so that it's going to be noisy huummmm if i increase it a little.

I had this very thing happen, and I just adjusted the pan on the stereo track to move the left channel into the center. Worked great.

push a bit with a limiter or maximizer.

Vegas 3.0 has a feature for this purpose. Right click on the audio event and select channels left only. When you render the left channel will be used for both L and R equally unless you adjust the track pan.
