Insert a velocity envelope. Change the speed to 0% for freeze frame. Positive percentages go forward. Negative percentages go in reverse. With the velocity envelope, your speeds may range from -100% (full speed backward) to 300% (3 times normal speed).

Thanks Jetdv. Just got VV and am taking the tutorials. Haven't gotten to the stop motion part yet. One of the most appealing things that brought me to VV from VF is the stop motion in time with music. Glad to see that it's so easy. Every tutorial gets me more pumped with Vegas capability and this forum is excellent for learning.
Thanks again,
Randy

i would like to know how to also slow down the audio to match the video. I would like to slow down or speed up audio/video so that I can get a chip-munk effect or a slow robotic effect. Basically I would like to control audio and video at the same time. I can strech or expand both can't i.

The ONLY way I know of to change the speed of the audio is to CTRL-Drag the clip. The velocity envelope DOES NOT work with audio.

To change the speed of the audio and video, hold down the CTRL key while dragging the edge of the clip. This will allow you to speed up or slow down the speed of the audio from .25% to 400%. You also have the option of whether or not to preserve pitch.
