How to make the "Dogs with Jobs" intro title?

I'm making a spoof of this show and was wondering how I could quickly and easily make the want ads that appear on the show's intro. I do have word and photoshop, but word can only save an image as a .gif file (which I have no idea what that is and what resolution it is) and photoshop seems like a pain to add colums and boxes for the text. Of course, I'm not terribly experienced with either program with regards to this sort of thing.
Just wondering if anyone knew of a quick way to make this sort of thing so I can then pan and zoom it in Vegas to complete the look (which hopefully won't make the text a blur when panning).
Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Never heard of the show - can't help you with that one (or the design....anyway).

Photoshop can handle text pretty well enough that you can make a title graphic, high quality, and bring it into Vegas and manipulate it without distortion.

Word is a great program for word processing - I don't think I ever considered using it for a titler.

A GIF file is a graphic file. You may want to not choose this as the source file for your graphic for your titles.

Give a good hand to Photoshop, and/or get your hands on Illsutrator.

But....depending on which version of Vegas you have, you can create some good title work in Vegas and use the native panning/zoom stuff to do pretty much anything you need.

I’ve never seen the show either and I went to their web site and they don’t have any videos of the intro. Perhaps you can describe the effect although I know this is often difficult.

Sure, they show want ads or classified from a newspaper and quickly pan all around it. It's actually pretty hard to read anything. They intersplice some clips of dogs working, like rescue dogs, seeing eye dogs, etc.
My plan is to make some classifieds like from a newspaper only with dog themes, then drop in 3D style some silly looking titles, then drop in the same way a dog paw print. Might even make the paw print shake the other titles as if they are all on the ground and the vibrations of the paw shake the other titles.
Yes, I know this is cheesy, but the subject calls for it.
Any thoughts?

You'll want to design your "newsprint" graphic in Photoshop. I did something similar to this where I wanted to place numerous video objects on the graphic and then zoom in on particular ones at a given time during the 30 sec spot. I found it best to work in HD 1080i mode and then resize back down for NTSC specs. With the added resolution that you get being in the HD aspect, the zooms in on your video (dog) clips should look really nice.

Take all your video clips, place them at the points in the graphic you want them at and then scale up your video for your zoom. At the time I used Satish's 3dLE plug-in for my zoom, however you could now use the new 3D compositing modes (parent / child) for this and probably get a better path of movement than I could at the time.
