Cannot open it, where? In the Vegas timeline? In a media player program?

I rendered as avc file. I cannot open it in VP or windows media player. 'windows cannot open this file'. The file type is Mainconcept AVC/AAC. when I rendered into sony avc, I can open it.

I rendered an AVCHD 50i clip to MainConcept AVC/AAC mp4 using Internet HD 1080p template but customised for 23.976 fps. I set constant bit rate of 10 and 20 Mbps and tried both MAIN and HIGH profiles.

This loaded into Vegas 11.

The only problem was that it created 12.5 fps, not 23.976.

Do you have Quicktime installed (are you creating an MP4 file)?

Strange.

I installed the latest NewBlue Titler and found that I couldn't render to constant bit rate. ("The reason for the error could not be determined").

Neither uninstalling it or reinstalling the old version of the titler makes any difference.
