How to prevent track deletion?

Hi!

I know it may sound dumb but the other day I deleted a video track without knowing and then saved the project. When I came back to work on it... Oh! big boo-boo!

I searched in project properties and vegas preferences for any options that would warn me before I delete things and didn't find any.

Suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!

Yup! Been there done that! "Track Deletion Protection" . . aint come across it . . but if you realise what you've done you can, as you suggest "I deleted a video track without knowing" , do an Undo. WHat I've learnt to do is to make progressive saves "MyProject1" . ."MyProject2" . . " MyProject3" etc etc . . this isn't a bad idea as if something very untoward happens you've gotta fall back -yeaH? We all make those big mistakes . . .

Regards

Grazie

Look in your project directory for a .veg.bak copy of your .veg file. This is automatically created each time you save and contains the previous save of the project. Of course, if you've done another save in the mean time, then the latest version replaces that old one.

Let add on this -

Turn off the auto save feature. yeah it is cool if you muck up something however keep in mind if it autosaves you can be chugging alone for hours and never notice the mistake. When you do you may have already autosaved 10 times. For me I would rather tell VV to save at a point I am ready to save. and at that point it will not hurt to also do a "save as" and use that as a back up.

Auto-save saves a backup project, in case your system crashes for whatever reason (makes project recovery fairly easy). Your active project is not impacted by auto-save.
