How to put 4K clip on 1080P but keep the larger (double) size?

sonicvision wrote on 8/11/2023, 1:38 AM

I am trying to 4K footage on a 1080P timeline and want to have the larger clip to be to zoom in (like in this video ) but it's just looking like regular size HD. I can do this in Resolve.

Use pan crop or the crop Fx on the event to zoom it in? Don't use track motion as it works at the resolution of the project.

Ok, Pan/Crop appears to do it, but not as easily as the linked video or Resolve do it. Appears I must change Position Width from 3,840.0 to 2,160.0.

What is Crop FX? I searched Video FX and see "Crop" but those presets don't seem applicable.

I meant the video Fx called Crop. That said, I just looked at your video and don't think it's what you need.

Try Picture in Picture for more intuitive controls than pan/crop. You can move and drag your footage in the preview window to exactly where you want it.

Here's what I just did:

  1. Start a new project - 1920x1080
  2. Add a 4K video clip to the timeline (and said - NO, do not adjust the timeline to match)
  3. Open Pan/Crop
  4. Typed 1920 into the Width box at the very top on the left.

done.

The pan/crop seems to be the way, and PIP appears to work too. Thank you all!
