How to put text on the video

Boris-Shafir wrote on 3/13/2020, 7:02 PM

I'm trying to overlay a 2-second text on my video. What it does however is it gets the background dark. I do not want to do this, I just want text to appear on the video while it's playing. How do I do this?

Related question: once I create a text, I do not see an easy way to edit it and can only remove it. Is there a way to edit a text you put on a video?

Thanks.

You don't say how you are creating your text. If you are using Media Generators - VEGAS Titles & Text you shouldn't have problems. By default it has a transparent background and you edit your text in the text generator box.

Make sure your text is on the timeline ABOVE your video.

I'm new to Vegas, but see if this is what you need. It doesnt work for just text, but when you add "credit roll" to your project, from the media generator, go to PRESET, and select" Scrolling on transparent". and another trick I found is you can click the little( 3sided box with the arrows in it, to the left of the gear/ media properties), and it sets it to the event length of the text, or just adjust the duration to match.

This software has taken days to figure out, and im still learning, plus I have a problem with my videos not working, and waiting on a fix, but thats another story.
