How to put Video only on timeline

My clips are computer animations, so there are no voices come with them. If I press down the left moust button and drag the clips onto the timeline, empty audio events will be put onto the voice track and taking up one valuable track. So in my last project, I used the right mouse button and go through two extra steps (Video Only -> Add Video Across Time) to avoid that.

Now I think there is a better way to do it: drag the clips with the left mouse button and then delete the voice track and then add an audo track back into the timeline. Is this the most efficient way to do it? Is there a way to change the setting so that only the videos are added to the timeline by default?

If your clips contain an audio track, whether there is any audio material or not, dragging the clip to the timeline will include the audio track.

If your clips are video tracks only, dragging them to the timeline will include the video track only. Look at your media properties to see what tracks are in your clips.

It's that simple.

If you right click and drag to the time line you will be given a choice of video, audio, or both.

Thanks, musicvid.

I know the clips have audio track although there is no sounds on it. I found no option to export video only from the animation app.

I was wondering if VMS can be configured to put Video only by default on the timeline. I guess your answer is no.

Thanks, Terry.

That was what I did in the last project. It involved two additional steps as mentioned above. From now on, I think I will use the left mouse button to drag the clips on the timeline, delete the voice track that have the empty audio event on it, and then insert a new audio track. I think that will be more efficient than what I did last time. I use all 4 audio tracks that are allowed.

There will be situatons when I need to use the right mouse drag method. For instance, if I decide to add more clips after I have put the audios on, I will have to use the right mouse drag again. That's why I was wondering if there is a way to configured VMS to add Video only by default.

No biggie. I was trying to smooth out the workflow as much as possible.
