You need to connect midi from your PC to your drum machine. Through midi you can generate a "midi beat clock". You will have Vegas generate a midi beat clock, you will then have to set on your drum machine the midi clock to "external" or external sync..something along those lines.....what that means is that it is getting a beat clock from Vegas. Now everytime you hit play in Vegas, your drum machine will go into play. You can now solo, each drum sound on your drum machine and record each sound into Vegas seperately. They will perfectly sync up, because it is always starting playback from the same point at the same tempo. You need to read up on "Smpte timecode" and "Syncing external devices". This is actually a very simple task, but if you are unfamiliar with this process, it can be very confusing at first.
Make sure you determine the tempo you want for your project ahead of time. It is difficult at best to modify the recorded audio's tempo after you have recorded it. (You could swing it into ACID and do this easily though.) Since it is a sequence in the external box, you could always record it again if you decide to change the tempo.
