How to recreate this video effect with text in Vegas 15?

Hi, I'm trying to do a recreation of the Charles in Charge end credits. I'm using the credits segment at the end of this clip ( as my reference. It's a very simple thing, but the text is appearing and then disappearing before the bottom and top of the screen. I'd like to be able to create two static points at which all the text appears and disappears from the top and bottom of the screen if possible. I assume it's some kind of masking technique, but I'm new to Vegas for the most part and I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

Can you tell us what steps you have taken to create the effect?

So far I have the font I want to use and I understand how to animate the text inside the frame in terms of making it scroll from bottom to top, the only issue I'm having is knowing where to start on making the text disappear like in the original clip. I had an idea to change the resolution of the clip so that the top and bottom of the frame are where I'd want it to disappear, then overlaying that on top of the credits still image? But that proved to be too complicated and it wasn't working out. I need a reliable method to make the text fade in and out like that.

I'll see if I can explain how I've done this so it's intelligible. It's based on the fact that the top-most track covers ever track below it.

Track 1: the still background picture. Track 2 (below): the text scroll. Track 3 (bottom of stack): the still background picture .

Make Track 1 "Track Motion." Crop the image so that only the top 10-15% is left. The image in your Preview window will sill look like a single image although now it is made up of two parts.

Now add text scroll. As it scrolls up it will disappear under the Track Motion portion of the image.

I'm not at my editing computer to check this but I'm pretty sure this is how I've done this in the past.

JackW's way works fine except you tie up two tracks for one video. Not a problem unless you need to edit some more and then you have to be sure you edit both tracks.
If you are using the TITLE roll in Vegas, another way is to use PAN/CROP and the MASKING OPTION. You draw a mask that will crop the titles wherever you like them to start and end visually.

Agree with David.

On Track 1, under Media Generator, you place the Scrolling on Transparent Credit Roll.

On Track 2, you place your image.

Then, on Track 1, go into Event Pan/Crop, put the cursor in the first position, click on the Mask box, and with the Square Anchor Tool, draw a mask over the top edge you want the text to disappear under. Once the box is drawn to your satisfaction, then Right Click, and choose Deselect All.

Then draw another box on the Bottom edge, and that should do it.
