How to reduce the autosave time in Pro v20

Bob-Mann wrote on 5/19/2023, 11:40 AM

Hi - I'm running Vegas Pro 20.0 Build 403 on a Windows 10 64-bit machine. I am getting regular crashes (program hangs then comes up with a "Vegas is working" message (#oxymoron) which then says "Do you want to terminate"). I dare say these are known bugs and will get fixed in a subsequent update. But I am losing a lot of time and getting very frustrated in having to restore my project from the saved backup and it being up to 5 minutes out of date. I saw that there was an "Internal" tab in the Options/Preferences menu that allowed you to reduce this interval. But I can't seem to get to it on v20.0. From youtube videos, it suggests for previous versions that you can get to this hidden tab by clicking either Shift or Ctl while clicking on preferences. But neither of these work for me. Does anyone know how to get to this control please?

@Bob-Mann Hi, there's an option Live Save, this will save after every edit, pretty much anyway, it might miss the last one all depending on when Vegas stopped responding, Be careful tho, this stays on & will overwrite/save a project which might then be hard to back step on, so maybe work on a copy of your project so you have a back-up to fall back on 👍

j-v just beat me to it, I'm a 1 finger typer & I'm eating my dinner 😋

@Bob-Mann 👍

Hi, maybe some of the crashes could be eliminated or at least reduced, so if you want to share some info, ..

can would you click your icon at the top of this page - My Profile & fill in your Signature with the full name of your CPU, GPU & amount of RAM, also inc the Windows & Vegas version, this will then show at the bottom of your comments,

It might be the type of media/video you're using, some work better than others, there's an App called MediaInfo, download it, it's free & a fast download with no added adverts or any of that rubbish. https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

After downloading, right click on the media file in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the options at the top, Copy & paste the information in a new comment on here 👍

Like this -

PS. yes hold down Shift then click on Preferences 👍

I recommend advanced save over the old auto save feature.

@Jon-W If you want help with crashing vs saving please start a new thread. Likely there's an issue with the media in use.

Thank you. I have actually done a reset and the crashing has now stopped! I have now updated my autosave to one minute and have set up a specific folder for these files.
