How to remove a VOLUME envelope from a VIDEO track ??!!

RedRob-CandlelightProdctns wrote on 12/13/2022, 2:45 AM

I can't tell you how it got there, but I have a VOLUME envelope on a VIDEO track! (it might have come from pasting events from one project into this one)

Short of copying/pasting the entire timeline onto a new timeline setup with the same structure, then dealing with track keyframe/envelope points and all the hassle --

How can I turn off this bogus envelope? (it doesn't seem to be causing harm, but it doesn't belong there!)

(the word "Volume" is the pop-up hover-hint when I move my mouse cursor to the line)

It looks like it's highlighting track 3 which is audio and not track 5 which is video. You are sure that this is actually volume on track 5, and not composite level which is a similar color?

@RogerS 1000% positive. The blue line on track 5, the video track, when I hover over that line, pops up "volume" (see picture). I can select it, create keyframes on it, and move it up and down changing the "volume" on that video track (which obviously and thankfully does nothing since this is unexpected behavior). Need me to make a video of the interaction? ;-)

Could you save your project and provide it to me to look at? (No need for the media.)

That color envelope line on a video track should be for composite level. Either something is messed up on the timeline, or the tooltip is simply confused.

@VEGASDerek Sure thing <done -- sent to your private-profile messages here on the forum>

That line is thinner than the composite envelope line. Not just a tooltip issue; moving it up and down has no impact on the video output level like a composite envelope would.

Short video clip showing this faulty envelope:
