How to remove a white line

HamSjel wrote on 3/18/2004, 6:06 AM
First I must say I'm a newbie in this area (video editing). I am using Vegas 4.0.

I have a lot of video that all are letterboxed. Between the upper black block end the picture there is a white dotted line.

The problem is how to remove this white line.
My idea is to somehow enlarge the upper black block so that it will exactly cover the white line as well.

Answers (not too complicated) are much appreciated.

You could insert a generated media bar to cover this.
You could potentially use pan/crop to crop it out.
You could use track motion to enlarge the video area, behaving much like a pan/crop.
Are you familiar with those tools?

Hi Spot,

Thanks,

Frankly speeking: no.
One month ago I had never seen a video editing tool (:-)
But I do have the manual.
Do you think I could fight my way through?

Quick and dirty method:

Click on the pan/crop button that's embedded at the right edge of any vid or image. This open the pan/crop controller. Hold left mouse button down, slowly drag in on any corner handle of the bounding box at a angle toward the center of the image until the line is gone.

Right click in pan/crop work space, on the image, select Match Aspect Ratio. Set first key frame.

Play vid all the way through watch for that line, it should be gone.

Get to the last frame, right click in pan/crop workspace, again select Match Aspect Ratio. Set last keyframe.

If you saw the white line anywhere between the first and last frame, go to that frame and again pull in on a handle to get rid of it and set a keyframe. This minor trimming shouldn't hurt the look of your vid at all since you're probably only going to zoom in 1-2% at most.

Thanks BillyBoy,

That's the way I need it!

I'll try it out.
