How to remove/control an audio channel?

Is there a way to remove or silence a specific audio channel from a stereo track? For example, if a clip comes with a stereo audio track, in which the left channel contains the SMPTE timecode (LTC) and the right channel contains the voice of the person in the video track, I do not see an option to silence the left channel and to treat the right channel as if it was a mono audio clip. I’m not saying there is no such option, just that I went through all menus and even tried to right-click on the track header, and, well, am stuck.

I mean, I can open it in Audacity, delete the left channel, then export it to a .wav file, import that to Vegas, align it with the video, delete the audio track of the video clip, and get the desired result, but it would save me a lot of time if I could just split the audio track’s channels right inside Vegas.

Right click on the audio event, select CHANNEL and then right or left or mono mix.

Ah, so that’s where it’s hiding. Thanks!

To elaborate on David's comment, the same basic procedure would be used if for instance, you had a host - guest interview with two mics and tracks and wished to control them independently as two mono tracks. Duplicate the track/event and select the opposite channel

There is also an option setting (Option Preferences> General) to import all stereo tracks as two independent mono tracks by default.

Thanks, rraud.
