How to render for YouTube?

A rookie on both VMS and YouTube needs your help.

YouTube recommends the following:
1280 x 720 (16x9 HD) and 640 x 480 (4:3 SD)
MPEG-4 video
MP3 audio

I have VMS Platinum 9.0b. When I tried to do a rendering, I found that there were many options under Saved As Type and Template. And then there was also a button for selecting your own customized settings.

What should I do to get a good video for YouTube? Any experience that you have will be helpful, even if it differs from what YouTube recommends.

A bit more info: Right now I am making the original video in 1280 x 720. I can change to other resolutions if needed. I are aware that there is an Upload to YouTube option in VMS. I prefer not to use that. I would like to review the rendered video before upload.

Thanks!

I simply use Vegas' standard 720p wmv template for hd video on youtube. If you want smaller upload files, change the bitrate to 3M (3000).
