how to save stills as NTSC DV not square

Randy Brown wrote on 10/25/2008, 9:04 AM
I have a bunch of stills on the timeline that I've added text to (that look fine with the gaussian blur as suggested here...thank you).
However when I save as .png they save with the square pixel aspect ratio and have bars at top and bottom.
I've searched V8 help and here to find out how to make them save NTSC DV automatically without having to go to propreties on every single one and check NTSC DV before rendering (copy and paste event properties doesn't make this change).
Is there no way to automate this without buying a script program?
Thanks,
Randy

Randy, did you do a "Match Output Aspect" using Pan/Crop on all the stills first?
If not, run the free Aspect Ratio from the VASST site.
Be advised that this was written for Vegas 4 so you'll need to open the script in Notepad, change the line import SonicFoundry.Vegas; to import Sony.Vegas; and resave it, making sure to keep the .js extension.
The script goes into your script folder (C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 8.0\Script Menu on my computer).
Once it's there, start Vegas and do a rescan of your script folder so that it sees it.
HTH.

I used that script in V5 but didn't realize I could just change the name to make it work in V8.
Thanks very much Mike, it works perfectly!

Glad to be of help Randy.
The name change trick is easily applied to (almost) any script from the Sonic Foundry days.
I say almost because I've found that a few scripts no longer work in Vegas Pro 8 :-(
I know they changed something but, as I'm not a script wizard, I'm not sure what it was.
