How to Save Transitions across tracks for future use?

Hi,

I am recently working on a clip that needed multiple transitions, video FX etc on different tracks.

Attacked is a screenshot. Let me explain what I was doing in this edit.

The first track on top is Protype Titler, 4nd is Solid color (I applied track motion to this track). Both are media generators.
2nd one is Cookie cutter with clock wipe transition.

The end video had many other tracks. I want to just save these so I can use them again in later clips and just change the text in Protype Titler.

What's the best way of achieving that?

Thanks

Solution 1 - Quick & dirty. Save the desired selection as a Vegas project, then drop this subproject in the appropriate location in your next project (having already changed the text in your subproject). The problem with this approach is that you will need to go back and alter the text in the subproject each time you make alterations to an existing project.

Solution 2 - A bit more flexible. Each time you have a new project, make a copy of the subproject, alter the text and save the subproject under a different name. The problem with this approach is that if you come up with an improvement to your background effects, you will need to make that change in each of the subprojects.

Solution 3 - More elegant. Save tracks 2,3 & 4 as a sub-sub-project. Combine them with track 1 to make a subproject. Copy, rename and change text as in Solution 2 above for each new project. This way, if you come up with an improvement to your background effects, simply make the change once in your sub-sub-project and it will bubble through next time you render any of your existing projects.

I would save the project as a file with just those 4 tracks. When you want to use them again load that project and immediately save it with a different name, and perhaps a different folder, for your new project then add your new tracks. Does that make sense? Others may have a better solution but that is what I do for a client who I use the same intro over and over again just changing the text.

The ideas from the James and VF is exactly what I've used - and it is bullet proof. However, having invested time+money in NewBlueTitler Pro4 Ultimate, this would be:

  • A One Shot FX or Insert Gen Med Template
  • Each of the Text details can be updated as and when
  • Your Template, which would hold ALL of those assets I can tell/see could be reused and up-re-purposed for other projects too.

I've used it on a Travel DVD with many lower-thirds and special hits and zinger/stingers and in my latest government video needing lower thirds that I can rename and reuse.

NBTP4Uli? - Just the best.😎

Thanks guys.

I tried deleting other tracks and exported the ones I want to new Vegas project. Doing this I can still see the key frames that I had made on 2 tracks.

I also tried just copy pasting these tracks to a new project I was working on. Tracks seem to copy fine but the key frames are getting lost in the process.

So I guess using this project as a starting base is something I might have to do each time I want to use these tracks and just change the text in ProType Titler.

I am thinking I would have to do the same thing for transition media generations that I often combine to jump from one shot to another and make a separate project for it. Since those don't have any key framing I can just copy and paste them in new projects.
