Hey all,
Am trying to setup the m-audio firewire 410 on a fujitsu Lifebook N5000 (3G, 800FSB, 512 RAM) to get cleaner sound than from my internal audigy2 card running in a Shuttle (3G, 500FSB, 1G RAM)
After installing the 410 and trying my first recordings thru SF7, this is what I ran into:
1) I seem to need the wall-wart to make the 410 work even when I come in on a 6pin firewire port supplied by one of the two 1394 cardbus cards I have intstalled to extend beyond the single onboard 4 pin firewire port. A person on another forum suggested that notebook cardbuses aren't powered and I just wanted to confirm that that was indeed the case.
2) when hooked up to record VO, via XLR, my AKG C1000s (with 9v onboard power) seems to need the analog input gain cranked up two clicks from MAX to get a good recording.
3) And I can only seem to get that good recording (sounds crackly without) by checking the DC adjust box in the SF record dialog menu.
Sorry to ask such basic questions but the users manual for this rig has not been too helpful.
Can I ask someone whose had success setting up these puppies for collection of VO, and monitoring in stereo with m-audio SP-5Bs---
1) How to setup for record thru SF7 and V5.
2) How to setup a record template with the firewire 410 so that subsequent setups are uniform.
3) How one most cost effectively expands the SP-5Bs stereo monitor setup to a 5.1 arrangement.
Jeez-- sorry for all that at once, but that is absolutely everything that has been eating on me for the past 48 relatively fruitless hours.
Thanks and bestx3,
bt
