How to set transparency color other than black?

I have created an animated text with Blufftitler. The text is gold in color and is placed upon a black background. The text contains the letter O which gets progressively bigger so that it has the effect of zooming into the middle of the letter through which a video will be visible. I exported this from Bluggtitler as an uncompressed AVI.Initially I tried making the middle of the O a solid blue hoping to set the alpha channel color blue and hence make it transparent. Unfortuantelly all the background that is black behind the text turns transparent and the blue color within the O is just that, blue, instead of only it being tranparent.
I am sure there is an easy solution but I am just missing it.

Any help would be appreciated.

usually, when render to uncompressed avi, the software takes away the background.
you could use the chroma keyer to take away the blue.

I use C/K in these tye of circumstances. Works beautifully . . . However, if you've got any hue/colour present in ANY of the script that will be replaced with transparency too. If you find this is the case experiment with a backgorund colour - yes you will have to go back to the original file, but it is worth it - that is so totally different from anything in the text you can be sure thatn it wont be removed. Try either a really bright blue OR something completely different like a really acid GREEN!

Anyways, neat project to learn about c/k . .have fun!

Thanks to you both. The C/K worked just great!
