How to share vegas files between editors such that cuts remain

Hi all, hope this inquiry finds you well!

I am editing a video with my friend and I would like for us to be able to collaborate. I was hoping that I would be able to edit a video a bit, then send him my progress so that he can pick up where I left off. To be clear, I am hoping that the work I send him will look exactly how it looks on my end. So for example, if I make something like looks like this,

then I want to be able to send him my project so that he sees the exact same things, cuts and all.

We tried to follow this video to accomplish this, but unfortunately this method merged all of the sub clips together so that our cuts were lost. We may have done it incorrectly somehow, but we are unsure. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for your time!

Use nested timelines so he can work on one part of the project and you another? Each one is its own veg file. Otherwise same veg file should look the same.
