How to sharpen image slideshows or movie

Hi there! I am a newbie in Sony Vegas Studio. I`m using SVMS HD 10 for my slideshows. I `m using jpeg image files and i want to create a movie using panning and cropping out of my wildlife paintings to create a slow motion showing detailed parts of my painting.

When i play the movie, it is certainly blurry at times and has ripple effect when panning.

Hope to hear from anybody who can help me with this.

Do you think i should use a different img file?

Mel

You likely need to pre-render your sequence to see its playback at full quality.

The Pre-Render options are under the Tools menu. (In my book, I explain what each pre-render option does and how to use it if you're interested.)

BTW, you don't say how large your photos are, but I'd recommend keeping them no larger than 1000x750 pixels. Otherwise, they put a lot of extra burden on the system without giving you a better quality slideshow.

If you are doing any pan/crop or resizing anywhere in the workflow, you must set your Full Resolution Rendering Quality to "Best" This is absolutely important.

If you will be cropping or zooming stills, it is acceptable to keep them about twice the output resolution to retain clarity, and use pan/crop, not track motion.

If you would like the output a bit sharper yet, apply the Sharpen filter at "0" on the Video Output FX (yes it works).

Yes I`m interested to know about your book. Pls let me know where to get it.

My sizes of my images vary. I must say one is more than 1000 px width. I`ll reduce the size and see the difference.

Thanks for your help.

Hi and thanks for your help.

I`d like to know where to set Full Resolution Rendering Quality.

Will you pls explain how to keep img twice the output resolution when panning or cropping.

I applied Video FX sharpen Light to Zero and it improves the appearance of my photo.

However, it`s still has a ripple effect when i did panning.

1) In Project Properties or Render Properties, either one.
2) Well, if your Render Resolution is 720x480, your image size would be 1440x960, in order to give you some enlargement headroom.
3) Yes.
4) SET YOUR FULL RESOLUTION RENDERING QUALITY TO BEST.
5) rtm

Best of luck!

it`s still has a ripple effect when i did panning.

In Event Properties, enable Reduce Interlace Flicker. See if that helps.
