I'm going from memory here (I'm not at a computer with Vegas or VMS installed) but I think there is a "Deform" effect (in your Video FX tab) that you can apply to the video event (or entire track) that gives you some of this capability. It seems like it's somewhat limited as far as how far you can stretch things, but I think it will work for this.
The Deform effect will get you most of the way there. However, it only deforms in one dimension, not in two. So if it's used to create the setup shown in that example the video on the right side of the frame will look stretched out horizontally compared to what's on the left side. Maybe this will be ok and most won't notice it, but it's definitely there if you do look for it.
OK, here we go again.
By playing with the track Fx>Sony deform>squeeze right and then using track motion to reduce the size and move to the left you can do a somewhat reasonable facsimile. Thanks Tim.
And Kelly is right it will be deformed rather than appearing convergent.
Thanks Tim, Kelly and Terry. I will try that out tonight. And thanks Msmart for pointing out 3D trackmotion is not available in VMS. Otherwise I would be searching the option forever :)
