You should also read the manual section on "velocity envelopes". Very useful.

This is actually one of the things that makes VV the most powerful DV editing tool. Simply right click with your mouse on any clip oon the timeline.

In the pop-up menu you'll see "insert/remove velocity envelope" - hightlight that and a blue band will appear on your clip.

Now simply drag the blue band up or down to change the speed of your clip. You'll see a percentage readout that changes as you move the bar up or down, you can even reverse the clip by dragging into -%.

Right click anywhere on the blue band and you can "ad point". These points allow you to change to different speeds between points.

When I use a velocity envelope to alter the playback speed of a clip it also appears to change the frame that the the clip ends on. You may want to finish off by dragging the right end of the event on the timeline to get the clip to end where you want.
