Check a search engine for Video File Splitters.

I had one (shareware) that worked great....until the demo time ran out and I didn't purchase it.

Splits the file and no re-encoding needed.

I'll try that,
those coin in the slot programs are a pain aren't they.

Try TMPGEnc. Use File-->MPEG Tools.... There are tools to mux, demux, slipt, join, etc. all with no re-encoding.

TMPGenc will work for splitting or for joining, although I have sometimes had problems with it for VBR files. I think the basic version is still free.

A better -- although absurdly expensive program -- is MPEG VCR from Womble.

TMPGenc is free unless you want mpeg-2 ENCODING. the decoding/spliting is free, 20 day trial on encoding/combinig.

Thanks everyone!

I have TPGEnc and use it heaps, just never thought to use it for spliting a mpeg file. Thta's the only problem I find with it, the old RTFM doesn't help a whole lot.

Anyway in future I should be a bit more careful just how much I try to squeeze onto one DVD.
