How to squash and keep video quality like the big boys??!!!

I have a 3min 30 second video.
I render as mpeg1 with 44k audio at 380(I think,it is the highest for kilibytes).
I am also using the best setting for rendering.

I end up with 69mbs of file that works on quicktime which does look good.
Prob is,can i get this file any smaller?
I am looking at an enhanced cd that has a quicktime video that is 3min 30 secs as well, and theirs is 15 mbs!
How the heck do they get this outcome?
I get 69mbs they get 15?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

render it at a smaller size maybe? For CD playback there's usually no need for 720x480 or 640 x480 or anything huge like that. Try 360x240- that will cut the file size in half!

Pelvis I actually forgot to say that I am using 360x 240.
And it is still that big.
Thanx for help.
Any other ideas.

What video compressor were you using? Sorenson Pro compresses very nicely (smaller, cleaner, QT only) but costs a few bucks. The Windows Media and Real compression that we include are also pretty good- better in general than Mpeg1.

Prob is that the program I am using will not see media player files in it directly. They suggest avi files, mpeg they will allow also but give you a warning on how it may not be truly compatible with others.
Program is MultiMedia Builder.Nice program.I did try Autoplay menu studio as well.
I could really use to squeeze this down more.Still trying diff settings as well.
Any Ideas again would be great.Thanx all.
