How to toggle subtitle track globally?

There should be a simple way to do this and I must just be missing it. I am working with one main video title with about 25 chapters. I simply want a way to use one or two buttons in the main menu to toggle the subtitle track on/off globally so that even jumping between chapter selection/menu pages the setting stays the same. Is this possible? Right now, any time you return to a menu page while playing the title it defaults to Subtitle Track 1 the next time you select a chapter. It doesnt seem to matter what "initial subtitle track" is in Project Properties.

I can think of several convoluted, bloated ways to solve this.. such as creating two completely different menu trees... where all chapter selection buttons in Tree One are set subtitles "off", and Tree Two are set "on." Isn' t there a simpler way?

As long as each Button Properties Action Set subtitle track is "No change" it will
be the same until they go to your menu page that has a button to change the track.

Just make sure your assets each have at least one subtitle track.

Note: check EACH button you must have one that has Track 1.

thanks very much for the reply. I am still stumped.
I have checked and triple-checked every button on my chapter selection pages and all are set as "No Change."

Here's another odd example of what I am experiencing. I have my "initial subtitle track" set to Default in Project properties. On my Intro page I have a "play movie" button to play the full movie from start to end. (its's Action is set to "No Change" btw) In Preview mode, I select this button and it begins playing with subtitle track "None", if I interrupt play with the remote Menu return, and go back to the same intro page and select the same button again, it begins playing with Subtitle Track 1. There currently are not any buttons on the intro page with an action set to Subtitle Track 1.

Its the same thing for every menu page. the first time through my selected chapter plays according to the last subtitle Action i had selected in the top menu, but when I Menu return by way of the remote whatever chapter I select next it always plays subtitle track 1. I always have to go back up to the top menu, re-select my subtitle option and then re-navigate back to the chapter i want.

I hope I am explaining this clear enough. This DVD is an educational video with every chapter being a lesson so being able to jump fluidly between chapters is important.

Set the project properties to OFF instead of default.

Is this problem just in DVDA preview or also on a burned disc?

If the problem is not fixed you may need to download a program called
IFOEDIT and look at the generated files.

I made a class review disc and the first time a student uses it you don't want the
answers displayed. If the student fails a "test question" (done with submenus)
it turns on the subtitles and repeats the section displaying the main point.

When using the DVDA preview does the subtitle change as you navigate?
(Info below the blue remote)

The subtitle info at the bottom in preview doesnt change as I navigate page to page. It stays at "None."

I have tried with project properties to OFF as well as default previously. I also tried inserting a blank subtitle track as subtitle track 1 and tried setting the project properties to OFF, Default, track 1, and track 2. I didnt expect anything, but tried pretty much all combinations I could think of.

The problem also occurs on the burned disc as well... with the initial subtitle track set to OFF.

While previewing, the subtitle track also kicks over to Track 1 whenever I Menu Return from playing a chapter and then Resume... even if it was playing subtitle track 2 or subtitles OFF before I hit Menu return. this project just loves subtitle track 1! :(

I will look up the program you recommended, although I'm not sure I will know how to read the results. :)

I really appreciate your help.
