How to use presets from VAAST site and other?

I know this is a pretty basic question, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to use presets downloaded from the VAAST site and other locations. How do I get them into Vegas 6 and access them?

I thought perhaps there would be a way from the FX tab to import them, but I haven't found the path. I don't see a way within the plug-in manager as well.

What the heck am I missing? Scripts were easy to figure out, but this one has me stumped and I can't seem to find anything in the online help.

Thanks in advance.

Double click the sfpreset file and the Sony Preset Manager opens.

It looks like a window with four panes.
In the top left is the name of the new preset.
Click on FX Chains in the bottom left pane.
Then drag the preset from top left to bottom right with your other FX Chains.

That's it. Then close the preset manager. You may have to restart Vegas for it to show up.

I see how this works for audio, but what about video presets? I'm a bit confused at this point, but I'll try what you suggest and wander my way through it.

Thanks.

Oh dear - how simple!

Thanks, that worked. I see that Vegas automatically recognizes it as a video preset instead of audio. That was my confusion. I was looking for a seperate video presets folder.

Many thanks.

Hmm, I can't seem to get this work. When I double clicked the file in windows explorer, windows asked what program I should use to open the file. I specified SONY VEGAS, which was probably a bad move. Except that when I click on it, it doesnt initiate Vegas at all. I also noticed, that it says that in the properties of the file, it says the type is "vegas". Should the type read ".sfp" or am I reading this ok?
So I open up Vegas, and find the file in its explorer. When I double click the file, I get a "file is an unsupported format" error.

What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated, but its not a big deal anyways. Thanks.

EDIT: Also, is there a manual way of opening PRESET MANAGER? Maybe that would help?

Have you actually installed the Preset Manager? You can download it here

Unfortunately, Sony's Preset Manager only shows Sound Forge, but if you move the video preset chains, they still go to the correct location and Vegas will see them.

Thanks Jet, not having the preset manager would explain not being able to use the presets. Its working fine now. *shakes off embarrasment*
