How to use Track Motion?

homeport wrote on 1/17/2006, 3:02 PM
I am using Vegas Movie Studio +DVD on WinXP, SP2

I have tried to use Track Motion, with no success.
The manual has nothing in it concerning the method of using it.
I click on a video clip in a video track.
I then click on the track motion icon.
From this point, nothing seems to happen when I start playing the video clip.
Can I use the default settings of the Track Motion toolbar?
If so, how do I get the video clip to move?

Thank you

This is the Vegas forum, not the Movie Studio forum, but it probably works the same way.

Click on the frame in the Track Motion window, now drag it around, now resize the frame, now make it rotate, You will get the hang of it easy enough.

Then look at how keyframes work. At the bottom of the Track Motion window, see the timeline. click at the end of the time line and move the track motion frame. now click the beginning of the timeline and move the frame somewhere else. Now play your clip and see what happens.

Now search this forum for "Tips and Tricks Newsletter"

Enjoy Movie Studio.

When you click on the Track Motion button a dialog window should pop up that is very similar to the Pan/Crop window. Move the image frame around in that window.

Thanks much. I'll try it shortly and let you know how it worked. You guys should be writing the manual.

Are you sure you are using the manual and not the quick start guide? The manual is a pdf file that you can get to by clicking on support (on this page at the top) and then choosing manual and clicking on the appropriate manual.

I have been using the manual that came boxed with the discs. Apparently, I did not have the correct manual. I have downloaded the *.pdf file and will review it carefully. Maybe all of my questions can be answered there. Thanks for the heads-up. I should have looked in the website for this before.

Your instructions were great. It works like a charm. I'll continue to work with it until I understand how best to use it in the programs. I'll also consult the *.pdf manual.
Thanks again
