xkashx wrote on 11/12/2004, 8:05 PM
i tried to open a file which is .avi but it Virtual dub doesnt opens it and gimmes a error:
Could not locate decompressor for for 'dvsd' (unknown)
Virtual Dum requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those uses by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.
So, where should i download the codec VFW? I need help thank you

If you send me a mail with your email address to jaegersing@hotmail.com, I can send you a Playback Only DV codec. It may or may not work, but it's worth a try if no-one else has a better suggestion. File size is 760KB zipped.

virtualdub requires a vfw dv codec is all - for read and write ..

you can:

install the free panasonic dv codec (works fine)

install the not so free canopus dv codec (have not tested it - but i know it works)

install the not so free, but works very well, main concept dv codec ..

you can get the panasonic one here
