How would you do this?

Hi,

Sorry if this was posted before, but a search revealed nothing...unless I'm not sure what to label it.

Here's what I'm trying to do...A black screen with 3 to 5 small cropped video at the bottom (tiny video boxes) scrolling along (no problem so far), okay, now I'd like the middle clip to have a white frame around it and it gets blown up to a larger size (but not the full length of the screen)...a few seconds go by and we move to the next frame (the next little small cropped video), and that video is now enlarged and the previous video is back to its original size.

You actually see this on CNN as they introduce the ..in the newsroom segment.

would sure love to see a veggie on this...
Thanks

NOt seen CNN, so don't know - but what you describe is easy. You've done the hard work already.

1) New track, with cookie cutter fx, -preset "square, center, white border" should get you started for your white frame.
2) Use another, if you need a big white frame around large picture.
3) new video track containing your large pictures where are trimmed to appear/disappear when necessary.

I have whipped up a quick (very rough) veg file to do what I think you are looking for. (with V6) Want it?

Julius,
probably not a wise idea posting your email address like that, makes it very easy for the bots to find it. Either replace the "@" with "AT" and "." with "DOT" or better still just add it to your profile and advise people to find it there.
Don't mean to nag but I get spam in languages I can't even read these days.

Bob.

Thanks again, it was very helpful!

Just another question, how can I replace the media generated files with my avi file without loosing teh keyframes? I tried copy and paste-event attributes to my avi clip but I loose the keyframes....if I delete the media-generated clip, I again lose the keyframes.

I think this will do what you want:

Right-drag your new media and drop it on top of the event on the timeline, then select "Add As Take". Now that event has two "takes" associated with it, which you can toggle between by pressing the "T" key when the event is selected.

To get rid of the original media from that event, right-click on the event and select "Takes". Then "Delete" will give you a list of takes belonging to that event, and you can then select the one you want to get rid of.

Look in the help file for "replace" - you should be able to replace your media which will keep all keyframes/automation.
