Hows this done?

Is this video possible with vegas 7?

I would love to know how the flesh and body parts (hands, head) were made invisible but left what was "behind" ie: coat collar etc still in tact?

Also the last shot of the zip moving, blanks out the hand but you can just see the shadowy outline, but it seems to be removed with the zip under it still visible!?

is there an easy way to do this AND can Vegas 7 do it?? if not can anyone point me to any software that could do this sort of thing?

One way would be to use makeup to create a key. Then composite a blank background with the key.

You might be able to wrap the head, hands, etc in black velvet to use as a key.

Looks like chroma key combined with some rotoscoping to replace what the body parts were covering. Not real good rotoscoping either, you can see the shape of the head and the hand.

The zipper could hav e been a two pass thing. One for the hand movement and then again with a string tied to the zipper to pull it down.

So can this be done all in Vegas 7?

The rotoscoping can't be done in Vegas, but chromakeying can, after a fashion. If you get a good enough image to begin with then rotoscoping might not be necessary. DV is a poor codec for rotoscoping because it loses color resolution so you can get jaggies and color fringes around the edges.

A good chromakey requires excellent original material, good lighting, smooth evenly lit key colors, and lots of attention to detail.
