HP 420i DVD Writer experience with CDA 5.0a

Sony CDA Phone Support suggested that I post these questions to the forum becasue they did not have an updated list of drives supported for CDA 5.0a:

1) Has anyone had any experience or recommendations for using the HP 420i DVD Writer with CDA 5.0a?

3) Can anyone recommend a DVD writer that works well with CDA 5.0a? (I am considering a DVD writer primarily for CD audio writing and audio file backup using DVDs for greater storage capacity)

Thanks for your help!

I can't say anything about the HP 420i Writer, but I can recommend a DVD writer. I have a SONY DRX-510UL, and is working perfect, I bought it time ago, so now you can find newer SONY writer. I tested it and burned DVD's and CD's with CD5, Nero,Encore, Acid4, etc. Every time the result was excelent. You can check the DVD Writer www.sonystyle.com, and I recommend a external one, so you can use it, with laptop or take it to go.;)

Unfortunately, I did not see your posting before I "took a chance" and purchased a Memorex True 8x Dual Format DVD Recorder, which seems to work just fine - so far. I selected this drive in particular because 1) it received high marks from PC World and PC Magazine in their testing, 2) the price was reasonable, and 3) it included a full Nero express software suite (I had seen Nero referenced positively by many postings on this site). I had to opt for the internal model because my PC does not have a firewire or USB 2.0 I/F :-(

Thanks for your reply and suggestion!
