Huge WMV files - how come?

I'm using MOV files that I drop into Vegas and then make a single WMV file. During the rendering process it might say the estimated file size will be 29MB or so, once done the file is closer to 150MB. The MOV files themselves are not that big and get this - I am not doing anything to these movies, no darkening or lighting, no effects, no transitions, nothing. Just drop and render.

I've never seen the estimated file size be so far from reality before. And I have not patched or done anything else to the software (in a few years), though I could have modified a setting yet I don't recall doing so.

Also, this is new, I was doing the same thing a few weeks ago and was not having this issue.

Any ideas?

The only thing that determines the file size is the duration and the bitrate. If your files are bigger now than they used to be they're either longer or you're using a higher bitrate.
