Humming sound in Vegas

I record shows with a captuer card and burn to DVD. I typically use TMPGEnc to encode to m2v and wav and use that to make a DVD. I recently purchased Vegas5+DVD and thought I would try the AC3 encoding. I dropped the wav file into Vegas and played it. There is a very high pitch sound when I play in vegas. I can play the file in VirtualDub with no problem. I thought maybe it was just a problem while playing in Vegas but after encoding and playing on TV I still have the sound. I dropped the wav file in Acid and the high pitch is still there. I used Media Player to play the wav and there is no high pitch.
I did try dropping an mp3 ripped from a CD into Vegas and it is ok. So, my only guess is that the high pitch is really there and Vegas and Acid are more susceptible to it but I am not sure why. Does Vegas have a wider range of what it detects and plays?
