HVR-Z5 1080-30p Tapes Playback

I was given miniDV tapes with footage on them shot with a Sony HVR-Z5 1080-30p and have no means of playing back the tapes to capture the video for editing.

Does anyone in Southern California have a camcorder or deck that can play this 1080-30p video that I could rent or borrow for a day?

Or, if anyone knows of a inexpensive compatible camcorder that i could buy to play back the footage would be great. The Canon HV20,HV30 and HV40 were suggested to me - but will they play back the progressive footage from the Z5?

i think I answered this for you eslewhere.

Apart from the Z5 or Z7 you need the Sony HVR-M15A or HVR-M25A VCRs, the previous version (without the "A") does not play those tapes. I mention this so you could try a rental house and know what to ask for.

I have not been able to locate any of these at a rental house near me and would like to know if anyone has one to rent?
