HW recommendation

I have today a Compaq with a 700 Mhz Duron CPU, 384 MB RAM, some built-in graphic card and I am planning to upgrade, but my question is where should I put the most effort, in order to be optimized for video editing with Vegas4.0.

What is the best to spend money on? CPU, Memory or graphic card? Or perhaps all?
Does anyone have a recommended configuration?

Definately CPU first; that will make the biggest difference. That amount of memory and any old cruddy video card are sufficient for video editing. However, chances are you won't be able to upgrade the CPU in that computer significantly. If you can still find it, the 1GHz Duron is probably the fastest chip you can put in that box. Anything beyond that will probably require a new motherboard and new memory. Also, knowing Compaq as well as i do (and sadly, that's very well) you probably can't get a newer motherboard that will fit in that computer. That means a new case, new video card, new memory, possibly new other interface cards as well. About all you'd transfer from the old computer to the new one is the drives.
