Hybrid DVD-V/DVD-A for lossless MLP 5.1?

Hi everyone

Long time user of this forum but first time posting (really handy resource!)

I am looking to author a hybrid DVD9 for a 5.1 surround and hi-res stereo audio release. I do not want to go blu-ray due to licensing costs. The DVD-V will be DTS and AC3 encoded which is fine for 95% of the listening public. However, there is a very vocal gaggle of audiophiles who moan like crazy if there isn't a true 'lossless' release. DVD-A will allow me to offer lossless MLP 5.1.

However, because of compatibility I have to be able to offer both on a hybrid. I know this can be done, but I wonder if anyone out there has had any experience with this?

Cheers!

From Wiki: "Meridian Lossless Packing, ... MLP is the standard lossless compression method for DVD-Audio content."

DVD-V is presumably the normal video DVD.

Is this where the normally empty AUDIO_TS folder gets used?

I've wondered what that empty folder was for since authoring my first DVD.....

Yes. That's what it's for.

As an experiment once upon a time i burned a few DVD-video discs without the AUDIO_TS folder just because it seemed to be useless clutter. They worked fine on most players, but a few rejected them as either improper format or even "NO DISC". Lesson learned, don't mess with the standard.
