I am back...

with my first stupid question. I hope someone can help me please. I was adding a text media frame with no problems. I went to add my second and it just replaced my first. So I thought ok maybe you are only allowed to do one. Did not make sense but I decided instead of trying to figure that problem out I would just do those text screens in Microsoft Word. Well I am sure you know that did not work as well. Which way should I be adding many different text media clips? Help please!

How are you adding the next event? Are you copying and pasting the first one? If that's what you're doing, make sure you choose the option to "Create a new copy of the source media." That will create an independent event. If you instead choose "Create a reference to the original media" then all you have is a 'mirror' of the original event. No matter what you do to either one, it changes both because they're really the same event.

Of course, it's always safe to simply drag another text media preset from the media generator to the timeline as this will always create an independent event. However, copying an existing one does have the advantage in that you'll start out with the same font, size, style, color, etc.

If Chienworks' reply didn't answer your question, then a little more info would be helpful, i.e. what specifically did you do leading up to when the text media is "replaced", and then what is it that you are observing which makes you believe the text media is being "replaced"? For example, by "replaced" do you mean the first event disappeared from the timeline, or the first event no longer appears when you preview?

I've had no problems adding multiple text media events, sequentially on one track cross-fading on one track, overlayed on multiple tracks, etc. So once you add a bit more detail to your question, I'm willing to bet we'll solve the problem.

Ok I was not patient and I am sure I went the long way around a simple problem but I was on a dead line. I ended up typing in Powerpoint, doing a screen capture and loading it that way I have another video due tomorrow so I will try to be more specific when I run into these problems. Thanks so much for those of you that tried to help.
