I have a canon HV 20 camcorder and cannot down load my video from my mini tape.

What OS are you running? You also need to be running IEEE 1394 with the OHCI Legacy Driver. Built in with W7. If running W10 search/google f '1394_OHCI_LegacyDriver.msi' from Microsoft and follow install instructions.

You need to use Firewire IEEE1394 line.
